TREND. Small Wedding with Big Style

A small wedding isn't for everyone but for those of you who want to savoir the moment with only your very closest friends and family, a small wedding can be just the thing...

Besides being an incredibly intimate affair, a small wedding can afford you and your guest luxuries that may not have been in your budget, were you to up your guest count.

How can a small headcount make a smaller budget, a luxury budget? Let me count the ways ...

1. Venue

 

There are some unique and style savvy event spaces out there that can only hold 50 people or less. These venues tend to be lower on the cost scale and can sometimes have even more style than their larger counterparts.

2. Food

 

Having a smaller wedding can mean the difference between champagne and lobster for your guests and burgers and fries (not that there's anything wrong with burgers and fries! ... mmm sliders!!). Why not take that food budget for 200 and give 50 of your nearest and dearest a true culinary experience (fancier burgers??), with change left over for honeymoon.

3. Decor

 

Have you been drooling over chivari chairs since you said "yes"? or are you in love with the rustic chic look of harvest tables and mixed china? Upgrading to these for 50 people can be much more attainable for the average budget then trying for a group of 200+.

4. Flowers

 

Instead of spreading your floral budget thin trying to cover 20 + tables, you can focus on just a few tables and make a real floral statement with unique center-pieces, bold garlands or both. What about your aisle decor? Now 1/4 of the length, you can add those rose petals and chair accents that you've been busily pinning!

5. Favours

 

Have you been coveting adorable succulents in cute pots but then ... you did the math on a few hundred of them fell into a whimpering pile over a very large glass of pinot? RUBBER BANDS FOR EVERYONE! You exclaim once you finish off that glass. I mean, rubber bands are industrial chic, right? ;)

6. Invitations 

 

There is nothing like beautiful, hand-written calligraphy or letter-press stationary. It can serve to set the tone of your wedding but ... the labour and details that goes into these can leave them JUST out of reach for a larger headcount wedding. Think small ... think detail!

I could go on to list nearly every detail of your wedding but the point really is that the number of guests you invite is directly linked to your overall wedding cost.
